__NOtOC__ |meat Bobotie is a traditional South African dish consisting of spiced minced meat baked with a savory egg-based custard topping. It is widely regarded as one of South Africa's national dishes and reflects the culinary influences of Malay, Dutch, and indigenous African traditions.

  1. Soak the bread in the milk and set aside.
  2. Heat the oil in a frying pan and sauté the onion until soft.
  3. Add the minced meat and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in the curry powder, turmeric, chutney, vinegar, raisins, salt, and pepper.
  5. Squeeze excess milk from the bread and mix the bread into the meat mixture.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
  7. Beat the eggs with the milk and pour over the meat.
  8. Place the bay leaves on top.
  9. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 35–40 minutes, or until the custard is set and lightly browned.
  10. Serve hot with yellow rice, vegetables, or chutney.
